Lord of the Rings - Book I

The Fellowship of the Ring is LOTR - Book I, which is very different from the movie. I just finished reading Book I and must say though it was not very exciting, Tolkien's prose and the poetry are a pleasure to read. Something that 'wowed' me was the description of Strider or may I say Aragorn:
Here it is in Tolkiens's words:
- All that is gold does not glitter,
- Not all those who wander are lost;
- The old that is strong does not wither,
- Deep roots are not reached by the frost.
- From the ashes a fire shall be woken,
- A light from the shadows shall spring;
- Renewed shall be blade that was broken,
- The crownless again shall be king.
It appears in Gandalf's letter to the hobbits in Bree, before they know that Strider (Aragorn) is the subject of the verse.
Have finished Book 1 and will start reading book 2 soon.

I had been craving too read Lord of the Rings for a while now... especially after I put in a lot of effort to endure "The Hobbit". :) picked up the trilogy from the library after waiting for 8 weeks or so. Got done with 75 pages last night. As it is with every book , it is just way better than the movie. back to LOTR now....

I do not know how to put this in words. :) But I dont have a choice, do I??
To be itching to something and to actually do something day in day out are two things at the opposite ends of a spectrum.
Spurred by the 1st comment on my blog, a sarcastic yet constructive reminder of the fact that I do not update my blog, I am "BACK" to blogging.
Interestingly enough, I have seen that in every aspect of life, I like people who are consistent, who persevere hard to be at the top of their game, yet I can just see the results and not the consistency at which they produce them. I wont deny it, I procrastinate, but if I put my mind to something not many can do it better. I heard about this in a movie and while watching a cricket match and in very many other places... "If you can get through the initial phase of 3 days or a week, you can be fairly consistent at doing anything" That is exactly what I am trying to achieve, to punch in at least 5 lines day in day out this week.

Adaptability or Originality
Monday, March 5, 2007

Every individual has a personality and this personality is a result of that individual's originality and adaptability. I make this statement based on my perspective to life. The way I see it, what we do, what we are is because of what we want to do or what we learn to do. What we do is our originality or creativity and what we learn to do is adaptability.
Before I started writing, I had it fixed in my mind that I am brilliant at adapting and not great at creativity. The fact that I am writing this post in itself shows that I dont lack originality and the fact that I am changing this post on the fly demonstrates by adaptibility. I realise at this point that I am writing too much about myself, so I should stop.
I realise this post is vague but I will write more ...
till then, adios..

I am not known to be consistent or regular at anything I do. I have a short attention span, you may say. I start writing here to change that by daily posting at least 1 post.
