I just finished reading Book I and must say though it was not very exciting, Tolkien's prose and the poetry are a pleasure to read.
Something that 'wowed' me was the description of Strider or may I say Aragorn:

Have finished Book 1 and will start reading book 2 soon.

Something that 'wowed' me was the description of Strider or may I say Aragorn:
Here it is in Tolkiens's words:
- All that is gold does not glitter,
- Not all those who wander are lost;
- The old that is strong does not wither,
- Deep roots are not reached by the frost.
- From the ashes a fire shall be woken,
- A light from the shadows shall spring;
- Renewed shall be blade that was broken,
- The crownless again shall be king.
Have finished Book 1 and will start reading book 2 soon.
